(UTILITIES INCLUDING WATER)
We can assist with issues regarding utility bills including for current bills for electricity, heat and water as well as bills owed before going to prison and which need to be resolved now for utilities to be turned on. Please read all information below for utilities help.
REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSISTANCE:
WE ONLY ASSIST RETURNING CITIZENS. THOSE COMING BACK FROM PRISON AND WHO HAVE ALREADY APPLIED TO THAT PROGRAM OF OURS. IF YOU HAVEN’T YET APPLIED TO THAT PROGRAM THEN CLICK HERE FIRST: RETURNING HOPE TO RETURNING CITIZENS AND READ THE INFO AND FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO APPLY. TO SEE IF YOU QUALIFY FOR UTILITIES ASSISTANCE PLEASE READ EVERYTHING BELOW:

We can help you with payment on one utility bill but all other utility bills must be up to date. For example, don't apply yet if you owe on your water bill AND your electric bill.
2.
We are a resource of last resort so please first get an answer from State Emergency Relief (SER). If you receive partial SER assistance you should also seek, if DTE related, help through DTE's Low Income Self Sufficiency Plan. Their phone number is: 800-477-4747.

The maximum amount we can provide is $500.00.
4.
If what you owe is above our $500.00 maximum and you do not have the ability to pay the rest owed, then don't apply just yet. Our assistance of our maximum amount of $500.00 must bring the complete balance to zero.
5.
Hopefully you are not behind in rent or mortgage as we can't help pay your utility bill and subsequently your are evicted because you owe back rent (or home is foreclosed on). So wait to apply until your rent/mortgage is up to date as you can't apply before then.
6.
If you are seeking our assistance with a utility company to get on a payment plan or make a partial payment to avoid shut off or any type of pay program they offer, then we can't do that as we can only pay to get the entire amount owed paid off. The balance must be zero after our assistance.
7.
Again, after our assistance the balance must be zero. The name on the bill must be in the name of the Applicant. Lastly, you must currently have ongoing income either from employment or from Social Security.
