1.
You must be working at least 35 or more hours per week. There are no exceptions to this requirement.
You must have been working at least the prior four weeks at your current job with pay stubs for that time frame. All pay stubs must show at least 35 hours per week for actual working hours and not for vacation time or sick time etc. And you must, of course, have a current driver license.
2.
The maximum amount we provide is $3000.00 to go towards the purchase of a car. Please note: to apply to this program you must have $1,000.00 in savings that will be applied, with our maximum of $3000.00, towards the purchase of a $4000.00 car. If you choose a car less than $4000.00 you will still owe $1000.00 as your contribution. You can choose to get pay more than $1000.00 but our $3000.00 remains the same. Lastly, we do not enter into a co-signing contract with you. This is only a purchase of a vehicle, no car loan or lease involved.
3.
You must, before you apply, also have enough money to purchase car insurance to legally drive the car once the car is purchased.
4.
Your job must be permanent and not seasonal or temporary. If the job is through a staffing agency that may turn into a permanent position then that's wonderful and we hope to help when the time comes you become a permanent employee.
If you’re self-employed or independent contractor/1099 employee, you must have documentation of your prior two months of income from your job via checks, Venmo, Paypal etc. and there must be documentation of your pay rate and hours worked on your invoices. You also must document that you are paying quarterly estimated income tax estimates as required by the IRS. A minimum of at least the prior two quarters must be documented as having been paid. Lastly, you must meet the IRS definition of an independent contractor/1099.
5.
6.
The required pay stubs (four weeks worth of paystubs showing you are working 35 or more hours per week) must contain your name, your employer’s name, the total hours, dates the pay stub covers, the pay rate, YTD totals, paycheck deductions (Social Security, Medicare, State Income Tax, Federal Income Tax) etc. We cannot except anything else.
Your utility bills and your rent/mortgage must be up to date in payment. We will ask for documentation confirming these two things. Your property taxes must be up to date if you own your home.
7.
8.
If you are six or more months pregnant, then please apply when you return to work after your child’s birth.
9.
If you’re financing a car that you can no longer afford (and which may have been repossessed) or has been totaled in an accident, then we need to see that you’ve resolved that loan as you remain responsible to pay on it until the car loan is paid off. If the financed vehicle is in need of repairs that you can’t afford then you wouldn’t qualify for this program. We refer you to our Road Ready Repairs program.
10.
You must be able to show that you presently have enough net monthly income, from employment, to afford a used vehicle. If you are earning in the range of minimum wage then we may not be able to assist as this pay rate will not allow you to afford the expenses associated with owning a used vehicle.
Car expenses would include:
A. Gas
B. $75.00-$100.00 to go toward your savings each month for future car repairs or maintenance.
C. Car insurance -Basic no fault coverage usually ranges anywhere from $175.00 - $275.00 per month depending on your driving record, age, whether you had insurance recently, your Zip Code etc. If you have any questions regarding how much insurance will cost you, then get a cost estimate on a 2009 Dodge and VIN 3D4GH67V79T516029. This will provide you a good idea of the insurance cost for the type of car we purchase for our clients.
D. You must be independent and living on your own and FULLY paying all routine living expenses/bills including all of the rent and all of the utilities etc. You can't be in a living situation where you are living with family or friend(s) and paying no rent or low rent or renting a room in a house or boarding home or hotel etc.
Your name and signature must be on the lease (or mortgage) for full monthly rent (or (mortgage) payment (more than just a room) and utilities in your name etc.
Similarly, it is often difficult for us to help with a car purchase if you are receiving any assistance with your rent (such as a Section 8 voucher etc.) as this amount will change in the future depending on your income.
If a grant is awarded you are free to choose the vehicle you wish to obtain from any car lot or from an individual seller.
Lastly, you cannot be living a close distance to work where your commute is within walking distance or a short bus ride. And if you are self-employed, you cannot be working from home since a vehicle is not necessary to get to and from work. You must need a vehicle to get to and from the location of your business.
Also, future repairs to the vehicle will be your responsibility.
If you meet the above requirements for assistance then please let Bob know by text or email and he will provide you the Application for this car program. If you have any questions then just email at heretohelpfoundation@icloud.com
PLEASE NOTE: There is no loan involved as it is a complete purchase of a used vehicle. We cannot contribute towards a down payment and future financing.
